STEM Industry Role Models and Mentors:
Helen Baker, Senior Manager, Accenture.
Helen Baker is a senior manager and has worked for Accenture for 10 years. She has a degree in ‘Interactive Multimedia’ and spent 6 years working for a small consultancy company before joining Accenture. She has spent her time at Accenture working for health and public service clients; projects ranging from a large customer relationship management system implementation to most recently setting up an Agile digital delivery centre. She has a two year old daughter, with another baby on the way, and therefore understands the challenges of being a full time working mum. She is passionate about encouraging women into IT and supporting part time working.
Julie Cowan, Data Services/Finance Lead
Julie Cowan studied at Northumbria University and achieved her BSC (Hons) in Internet Computing in 2006; this included a placement year at Accenture. Following university Julie returned to Accenture as Junior Analyst Programmer in Application Maintenance. Julie has worked for Accenture now for just over 8 years and in that time promoted to Senior Analyst Programmer and then in 2010 to a team leader position. Julie is currently the Data Services / Finance Lead in the Live Service area dealing with escalated issues, liaising with the client and maintaining budgets.
Lynsey Parker, UKDC Service Management Lead.
Lynsey Parker works for Accenture in the capacity of UKDC (Newcastle) Service Management Lead. She received her BSc at Northumbria University after studying Computing for Business. After finishing University, Lynsey worked for Cadbury Schweppes in their Regional IT Centre in Bournville, Birmingham. Lynsey relocated back to the region in 2003 where she worked for Siemens Business Services where she was unfortunately made redundant. Lynsey has worked for Accenture for the last 10 years and currently has a team over 20 staff supporting 10 different clients. Lynsey is a qualified ITIL Expert and uses this industry best practice knowledge to help service her client base.
